Here is a set of questions from the authors of Staying Positive in Negative Times in the ASCD Leaders special. They really hit at vital issues in leadership but in particular at ways of being resilient when things go badly. It's important to you and to those you lead. My comments are in red
It's a good article and well worth reading in its entirety.

Energy Source: Emotional Well-Being
• Can I emotionally accept aspects of adversity that I can't influence in a positive way? Not many can.
• Do I understand my emotions in times of adversity and how these emotions affect my leadership performance? Not many do.
• How successful have I been in controlling my emotions before I say or do something I might regret? Perhaps easier because it is external and other forces such as making a fool of myself might come into play.

Energy Source: Spiritual Well-Being
• How have I gained strength from my connection to a higher purpose in life? Belief in making life better for others.
• How have I expressed spiritual gratitude for the opportunity to serve others?

Energy Source: Personal Support Base
• What have I learned from others who faced similar circumstances? It never seems quite the same but adapting works
• Have I made myself vulnerable enough to involve those I trust in discussions about my doubts or fears? VuVulnerability and trust-important but hard to face.
